Replacing your Duravit or Villeroy & Boch outlet valve with the Typ290 Outlet Valve

If you need to replace the close coupled cistern outlet valve on an older model Duravit or Villeroy & Boch toilet with the round button that has a small square insert, then you need to upgrade to the Typ290. This is because your original model has been discontinued. You can however, still get the button if that is the only issue with your cistern.

Original outlet valves that are now discontinued

The new Typ 290 Outlet Valve requires the cistern to be removed so that you have access to the underside of the cistern as you will be replacing everything inside the cistern except the inlet valve and the flexible hose that attaches to it and the mini cistern cock in the wall. Geberit have supplied a video to help you install it and there is a link to the product below.

The Geberit Impuls Type 290 replaces the type 280 older model but fits exactly the same. An easy way to identify if you currently have the Typ 290 is by the button on the cistern. Yours should be a round button with a little square button on the inside. See related pictures below Typ 290…
