A question we commonly get asked is how do I know which Hansa cartridge suits my mixer? Today we dive into the answer for you.

Hansa have two primary cartridges for basin taps, kitchen taps, shower mixers and bath mixers. These are the smaller 35mm cartridge and the larger 46mm cartridge. The quickest way to identify which cartridge you need is by unscrewing the grub screw and removing the handle which should slide off a protruding prong. The prong will either be plastic or metal. If your prong is plastic, you have the 35mm cartridge, if you have a metal prong sticking out, you have the 46mm cartridge. To further confirm your identification, you can measure the diameter of the cylindrical section just under the handle. If it roughly 50mm or less, it will be the 35mm cartridge as the 46mm cartridge would not fit in a diameter measurement of 50mm. If your mixer is more then 20 years old, you are also more likely to have the 46mm cartridge. Similarly, if you have a kitchen mixer, you are more likely to have a 46mm cartridge. It is important to note, that replacing the cartridge works best, when stopping a leak through the handle, spout tip or when water is not flowing correctly or not mixing correctly.
