How do I know which part I need for my TECE cistern?

There is two mechanical cisterns and one newer electronic cistern. The majority of people will have a mechanical cistern and there is an 8cm cistern and an undercounter cistern. The main difference between these two cisterns is their height. An 8cm cistern is taller, the plate will sit on the wall and when the toilet seat is lifted, it shouldn’t cover the toilet push plate. An undercounter cistern will sit below a bench, or shelf and when you lift the toilet seat, it should cover some of the push plate.

The two types of cisterns

The 3 main parts you will consider replacing are the inlet valve, the outlet valve and the flexible cistern hose. The good thing about both cisterns is that the inlet valve is universal. Usually this would be replaced if the water is continuing to fill the cistern tank or you can hear a hissing sound. The outlet valve is usually replaced if water continues to run into the pan or the flushing operation is beginning to stick or be faulty. It is recommended you change the flexi hose every 5 years to avoid it bursting.
