Beware of “Universal” Substitutes: The Invisi Series 2 cistern uses a specialized blue bayonet housing on the internal side wall. Because of this, standard inlet valves from Geberit or other brands will not fit. The Caroma Unifill (687171) is specifically engineered to “twist and lock” into this bracket, ensuring a watertight and secure high-pressure connection.
If your Invisi Series 2 cistern is acting up, the inlet valve is usually the culprit. Replace it if you experience:
-
The Whistle: A high-pitched screeching or whistling sound during the refilling cycle.
-
The Slow Fill: It takes more than 2 minutes for the tank to be ready for the next flush.
-
The Overflow: Water continues to trickle into the bowl after the tank is full because the valve isn’t shutting off (often caused by grit or a perished internal diaphragm).
When repairing an in-wall cistern, the best practice is to service the entire internal mechanism while the button plate is off. We recommend checking these related components:
-
Invisi Series 2 Outlet Valve: The main flush valve at the center of the tank.
-
Bridge Assembly with Bellows (237275): The orange “lungs” that trigger the flush.
-
The Flush Button Bellows: > Expert Tip: There are also small bellows located directly on the back of your wall buttons. These are not sold separately. If your buttons have lost their “spring” or pressure, you will need to replace the Complete Button Assembly.

Q: Can I just replace the washer inside the valve?
-
A: While possible, the 687171 is a sealed high-performance unit. Replacing the entire assembly is the only way to guarantee the “whistling” won’t return in a few months.
-
-
Q: How do I know if I have an Invisi Series 2?
-
A: Look at the hoses. If they are clear or thin black pneumatic tubes, it is a Series 2. If they are thick aqua-blue hoses, you have a Series 1 and need the legacy 405041 valve.
-
-
Q: Is this easy to install through the button hole?
-
A: Yes. Caroma designed the Unifill with a “Twist-to-Unlock” mechanism specifically so it can be serviced through the wall plate without removing tiles.
