Caroma Water Wafer MK1 and MK3 Pneumatic Operating Mechanism

The Caroma Water Wafer MK1 and MK3 Pneumatic Operating Mechanism (405180) is the genuine replacement flushing mechanism used in older Water Wafer concealed cistern systems.

These pneumatic cisterns were commonly installed in Australian homes during the late 1990s and early 2000s where the cistern was installed remotely from the toilet. The flush buttons send air through pneumatic tubes which activate the operating mechanism inside the cistern.

If your toilet buttons no longer trigger a flush, or the pneumatic system has failed, replacing the operating mechanism is often the most effective repair.

This part includes the internal bellows assembly used to activate the flush valve in Water Wafer MK1 and MK3 cisterns

Series 1 (The Pioneer): Uses the thick blue pneumatic hoses. Most parts are now discontinued, but we stock the 405041 Inlet and the Compact Button Upgrade Pack. Series 2 (The Modern Standard): Uses clear/thin or black pneumatic tubes and the unifill valve.

You may need to replace the pneumatic operating mechanism if:

• The flush buttons no longer activate the toilet
• The toilet only partially flushes
• The pneumatic tubes have pressure but the cistern does not flush
• The internal bellows mechanism has split or failed

Water Wafer systems rely on air pressure from the push buttons to trigger the mechanism inside the cistern. Over time the internal components can deteriorate and stop working correctly.
