Valsir 2-Lip Ring Flush Pipe Seal

The Most Important Seal in Your Cistern: This 2-lip ring joins the vertical and horizontal flush pipes. Because this is a high-pressure joining point, the seal is under constant stress.

  • The Danger: If this seal fails, it doesn’t leak into the toilet bowl—it leaks directly into your wall cavity. This can lead to structural timber rot, mold, and damage to the room behind the toilet.

  • The Service Rule: We strongly recommend replacing this seal every time you service a Valsir cistern. Over time, the rubber becomes squashed or develops hairline tears that are difficult to see but easy for water to penetrate.

Genuine Valsir Spare Part — Made in Italy The Valsir in-wall system is known for its durability, but the rubber gaskets at the pipe junctions are subject to “compression set” over time. If your cistern has been installed for 5+ years, this seal has likely lost its elasticity and its ability to maintain a watertight grip during the force of a flush.

When to replace this seal:

  • Mandatory Servicing: Whenever the internal flush pipes are disassembled for any reason.

  • Visible Damage: If the ring appears flattened, “pancaked,” or shows signs of perished rubber.

  • Dampness in the Wall: If you notice any unexplained moisture on the floor near the toilet or on the wall behind the cistern.

Pro-Tip for Plumbers: For a complete seal refresh, most plumbers also replace the Valsir Tropea Outlet Valve Seal while they have the system open. This ensures both the “flushing power” and the “waterproofing” of the system are back to factory standards.

  • Q: Can I just use some silicone grease on the old seal?

    • A: No. Once the “lips” of the seal have been squashed flat over years of use, they lose their structural integrity. For the sake of a low-cost part, it is never worth risking an in-wall leak.

  • Q: Is this the same as the outlet valve washer?

    • A: No. The outlet valve washer stops water leaking into the bowl. This lip seal stops water leaking into the wall.

  • Q: Does this fit other brands like Geberit?

    • A: This is a specific Valsir design. While some dimensions may look similar, we always recommend using the genuine brand-specific seal to ensure a pressure-safe fit.
