Villeroy & Boch Dual Flush Toilet Button

Read before you buy: > This is the genuine replacement button for original Villeroy & Boch close-coupled toilet suites. Important: The original outlet valve for this button is now discontinued. If you are planning to replace the entire outlet valve, do not buy this button separately. The modern replacement valve (Geberit Typ 290) comes with its own matching button included in the kit. Only purchase this 92180961 button if your valve is working perfectly and you only need to replace a cracked or faded chrome button.
Check your Outlet Valve before ordering!
When you remove your old button, check the top of the outlet valve inside the cistern.
The “Broken Plunger” Issue: If the white plastic stem on the bottom of your old button has snapped off and is still stuck inside the valve’s “bridge” or socket, it is extremely difficult to remove.
The Verdict: In almost every case where the white bit is stuck, you will not be able to use a new button. Instead of buying just the button, you should upgrade to the Geberit Typ 290 Outlet Valve. This new valve replaces the old discontinued V&B mechanism entirely and includes a brand-new matching button in the box.
Q: My button broke and the white plastic stem is still inside the valve. Can I pull it out?
A: It is very difficult to extract because the plastic often becomes brittle and wedged in the mechanism. If you cannot pull it out easily with needle-nose pliers, we strongly recommend replacing the entire unit with a Geberit Typ 290 Valve. It’s a more reliable long-term fix and guarantees the new button will work perfectly.
Q: Why does the white bit snap off?
A: Over 10–15 years, the plastic stems become brittle due to constant contact with water and chemicals. Often, the button is pushed too hard once the internal valve starts sticking, causing the stem to snap.
Q: Will this fit my Villeroy & Boch in-wall (wall-hung) toilet?
A: No. This button is designed for close-coupled cisterns (where the tank sits on top of the bowl). For in-wall toilets, you will likely need a Viconnect Flush Plate.
Q: My button is sticking; do I need a new one?
A: Sometimes sticking is caused by limescale buildup. Try cleaning the button housing first. If the internal springs have snapped or the chrome has begun to peel and catch, then this 92180961 replacement is the correct solution.
Q: Does this include the internal valve?
A: No, this is the button assembly only. If you need the internal mechanism that holds the water, you should look at the Geberit Typ 290 Outlet Valve.
