Geberit Kappa Outlet Valve (240.638.00.1): The Professional Identification Guide

The Geberit 240.638.00.1 is the genuine replacement dual-flush outlet valve for the Kappa series under-counter concealed cisterns. Because Geberit valves can look similar, correct identification is critical to avoid project delays.

When to Replace Your Kappa Outlet Valve

Is your Geberit undercounter cistern wasting water? There are two primary signs that this valve has failed:

  • The “Continuous Run”: If water is trickling into the toilet bowl 24/7, the base seal or the valve body itself has likely perished or become warped. This prevents the cistern from ever fully sealing, leading to high water bills.

  • The “Sticking Valve”: Does the water keep running after a flush until you jiggle the button? This happens when the valve fails to plunge back down into its seat. Over time, the internal guides can become coated in limescale or the plastic can degrade, causing the valve to “hang” in the open position.

Replacing the valve with a genuine 240.638.00.1 restores the weighted plunging action, ensuring a heavy, reliable seal every time the tank refills.

How to Identify Your Valve (The Sticker Test)

Don’t guess—check the tank. Reach inside the cistern; on the top left-hand side of the back wall, there is a identification sticker. This valve is the correct fit if your cistern number begins with:

  • 110.206.00.1

  • 224.368.00.1

  • 111.262.00.1

Visual Key: This valve is easily identified by the dark grey clip that surrounds the middle of the valve body. This clip is essential as it secures the valve directly to the back wall of the cistern.

The Pneumatic Connection

The 240.638 is frequently part of a pneumatic (air-driven) setup. If you are replacing this valve, we highly recommend checking the Pneumatic Lifter (240.574.00.1) at the same time, as these components work in tandem to trigger the flush.

Important: Don’t Confuse with UP170

Before ordering, ensure you do not have the UP170 valve. Both the Kappa and the UP170 were commonly sold as pneumatic systems and can look similar at a glance. The “Sticker Test” mentioned above is the only 100% accurate way to confirm your model.

Technical Note on the Flexible Hose (240.817.00.1)

If you are also replacing the flexible water connector, the Kappa requires the 240.817.00.1.

  • Version Update: Older hoses had a nut at both ends. The new universal system features a white end that plugs directly into the inlet valve after you remove the threaded section.

  • Warning: Other Geberit hoses are not long enough to reach in the Kappa under-counter configuration.
